Divehi
Monkey
Composed
on 5 May 1992
"Monkey",
the word in my mother tongue
Denotes
many things with plenty of fun.
"Rama’s
Monkey" lives up the tree
But
in the zoo he’s not free.
"Longed-legged
Monkey" has no tail
But
the Spider’s web is silky and frail.
Bedbugs
are called "Monkeys of the Place"
And
they bite you whatever your race.
The
word alone sometimes may
Mean
a person who is Gay.
With
this, Kindergarteners won’t be at ease
It’s
a Nursery Rhyme for the Ph.D.’s.
